I just moved into a new hosue with wireless internet, and I can't get my notebook to pick up the house's wireless network. I have a HP WLAn 54g W450 Network Adapter.

I know I should be able to pick up a network because my roomate gets the connection with linksys.

Can anyone help?

Hello Omni,

I you're not seeing the wireless Icon in the system tray on the lower right corner, and is using WinXP; it is likely that "Wireless Zero" is not turned on.

Configure: ;)

From desktop <rt click> My Computer, <click> Manage, <click> +Services scroll down to "Wireless Zero Config.." open; (Start/Restart) the service.

That ought to do it.. ;)

thanks,

but the wireless zero config was already started. I stopped and started it again, and no luck.

Any more suggestions, please?

could the ssid of the network be hidden.. in which case i think you'd have to know what the ssid is. could you get it from your roomate and try manually entering it? you might the channel too.

Please!! give us more info.

Like Tyler asked; Are you seeing the SSID? or, if it's configuration; you want to check that your adapter is not set for WPA, while the network is configured for WEP.

From desktop <rt click> My Computer, <click> Manage, <click> +Services scroll down to :

"Event Log" open; (Start) the service. (set it automatic)

Next scroll to : "Wireless Zero Config.." --> RESTART !!!
