I wondered if anyone could help me with a Cisco 350 series problem. I am trying to link 7 miles using old Cisco APs. A shoestring community project. All the figures say this is within limits. However, before I make myself look very silly in the field. I want to be able to access the full 100mw power (hi gain dishes are not an option). At the moment tx rf out maxes at 50mw using the http interface, although the label says it is a 100mw unit. If this is not easily possible it looks like the Bridge BR350 and Access Points AP350 use the same firmware. My next option would be to load the AP with the BR firmware making it a bridge as this defaults to 100mw. However, scanning the files both BR and AP firmware look to be identical, so I guess boot files like the key determines the mode, also the region and with it the power max, although 100mw is within region limits depending on antenna. Am I missing something here or is there a tool somewhere to manipulate AP/BR memory at HyperTerminal level in a DOS like way? From the draft files with MIB I noticed that this unit is capable of setting both the number of power levels and the rf out under the software control, but exactly how I wonder.

If you can't change the output to 100mW via the web interface or the terminal (on the AP Radio Hardware page), and even if you can, adding an amp might really help your situation, although maybe not cheaply enough for a community shoestring project.

Thank you, yes an amp would be an option only they are about twice price of USA here. plus the extra plugs cost and losses all make for a noiser more powerful more expensive signal. As I know there is 100 mw in the box just waiting to work it is rather frustrating. Shaking it does not seem to help, but I think if I flashed a complete image of a USA version, the AIR-BR352-A-K9 into the group's unit then that would work... I think. As I have never done it before it should at least be very interesting. Now I know why I never stuck to computers as a day job.
