 I'm having some problems with an Engenius NL-2611CB3 Plus (Delux) WAP that I picked up today. It's not giving me the distance I expected at all. I've put it in the exact same place that my other 32mW WAP was and I only get an extra 10 meters of distance out of the signal. When place outside on a street it only gives a good signal for about 50 meters... and that's down a straight street. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this is supposed to be plug and play and I expect about at least 3 times the distance I am getting.

It's connected to a D-Link 624 Router (which also has wireless... turned off though).

If anyone has experience with this engenius product I'd love to get a little assistance. Thanks all.

Tyler

make sure you are using a clean channel only 1, 6 and 11 can be used at the same time. If you have other access points in the area you could have a noise problem.

The 2611cb3 should give you many times the range of other products.

If you did not purchase it from a authorized dealer it might have the 100mW prism 3 mercury card inside limiting range.

Only buy Engenius products from a authorized dealer to avoid problems.

It could also be you client side that is limiting the range.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. It was purchased by a dealer recommended by Engenius themselves, so it should be 200 mW. I'm pretty sure that it is the client side, I'm just using regular wi-fi cards in notebooks. I was under the impression the the ap would receive the signal from these cards from a greater distance... as it's receiptive ability greater as well. Can I use another engenius ap to receive the signal as a client and the rebroadcast it out?

use the 2511 cd plus 200mW card on the client side for longest range.

the 2611 cb3 is very sensitive but if you are using bad quality client cards like built in or discount brands they will limit your connection range and speed.

Thanks Jeff, I'm going to give it a go with a second AP early this week. Will report back with my results.
