Could someone please point me in the right direction:
I would like to set up an initially "free" WiFi hotspot in a restaurant we are opening. However, I would like to make so that I can easily filter an monitor internet access and make it upgradeable / expandable so that I could later begin charging for access.
Thanks for any help

J,
Most hotspot gateways have the capability to send syslog information to a PC. This is basically a text file that captures user login/logout times and the amount of data transmitted over the wireless network. We capture this information for some of our clients, making it easier to read. See WiFi View on our web site. There are various Windows programs to capture this info.
I'd recommend the Zyxel G-4100. It comes with a 3 button printer and each button can be pre-programmed for a set amount of access time. When you press a button, the unit generates a random username and password that expires when the time is up.
You can also customize the login page if you want to advertise specials.
If you ever decide to charge for access, the G-4100 has the capability of accepting credit cards online with your merchant account and authorize.net You pre-program the amount charged per hour and the user selects how long they want access via a web page.
You can also program the unit to print a dollar amount on the output from the printer. This would be the customers receipt and they'd pay at the counter when they request access.
It's a very flexible device.

You can find information about all of Zyxel products at ftp.zyxel.com
The user guides are pretty good...
