Hi there,

Hope someone can help me out or at least set me straight on expectations. I am a relative novice in the Wi-Fi scene.

My problem is around internet download speed via my DWL900AP+. When I download stuff from the net via the AP using my Centrino laptop, the max transfer rate I am getting is 460-500Kbps. The same laptop when connected via ethernet is achieving just over 1200Kbps, which is closer to what it should be.

My Wireless connection says it's connected to the router at 11Mbps which is not blistering, but ok for my needs. Dlink support told me today that it is because I have a lowly spec'd AP, but surely if have an internal 11Mbps connection then I should be getting a better transfer rate from the net?

Any ideas?

Thanks
BennyBoy

Well, how unusual, I am replying to my own question with a verified solution.

1) Yes, I have achieved a greater download speed while using the DWL900AP+ now > 1280Kbps, up from 460Kbps
2) Changing the receive window using DrTCP for my 'wireless adaptor' did the trick. Was set at standard Win/XP 16k and now upped to 128K. If you have the same problem, you will need to calculate the optimum setting for your specific latency.
3) The DWL support guy I spoke to (in Australia) has no idea about his own products! A tranfer rate of greater than 460Kbps is achievable when using the 900AP+
