Hello all:
I will hopefully be getting some 900 MHz equipment soon (as soon as I figure which 900 MHz units to buy). But it sure is pricy. It is due to the high price (mainly of the SUs since I have to buy so many of them) that I'm not quite sure how to structure my charges to my customers.
I would love to hear how you all structure your charges, especially if you are using the pricy 900 MHz equipment. With the high cost equipment, it seems it would take a long time to get your money back, just to break even.
The 900 APs are high cost also (I'm thinking of the Trango price), but I don't have to buy as many of them.
I'm thinking of charging around $25 to $29 a month for WISP service in the 900 MHz band in my area. I imagine I should charge some kind of a one-time setup fee. Maybe $75. But that still doesn't come anywhere close to having the customer paying for the SU.
Should I just rent the SU to them or sell it to them? I may not get many customers, if I try to sell it to them, since a customer may not want to pay $500 for a SU outright. I guess the best way is to hope I can recoup my SU money back over time.
Maybe I should just own the SU units myself? The customer will have to supply their own router, I'm thinking.
I'm just trying to figure out a good business model, where I won't be out a whole lot of money, on SU equipment, over a long time, until I break even.
I would love to hear how you guys handle this business model to recoup your money on the large outlay for the SU equipment.
Thanks,
