I can't get the DSA 3100 to send me hourly Monitor IP alarms.

However, it sends them daily.

I do have my History usage set to daily, but I want my alarms sent hourly.

Anyone know the cause? I'm thinking there may be a firmware problem.

Thanks,

Hey Bob,

There are a few inexpensive software programs that will monitor your IP devices and page or email you if one fails to respond to a ping.

Handy for multiple locations instead of depending on the device...

Hi Greg:

Long time, no talk to...LOL.

I know there are some pinging programs, but I understand that I can't get through the DSA 3100 (from a remote location) to my APs, in order to ping them.

That is one great feature that I like about the DSA 3100. It can ping the APs connected in the WiFi network. And if one fails, it will email me. But for some reason, it only emails me at midnight...even though I have it set to email me hourly.

I'm thinking it must be a bug in the firmware. If it didn't email me at all, I'd be really upset.

Have any of you DSA 3100 users out there, tried having the DSA 3100 report alarms hourly? Does it work for you?

Thanks

What's the virtual server tab used for...

Hi Greg:

I use the Virtual Server Tab to set up things so I can remote into the DSA 3100. I think it is port 443 I put in there. And I also input the IP address of authentication port that the WiFi users are hooked into.

So I need this tab in order to be able to remote into it.

I'm able now to remote into this thing.

Hey Bob,

You can set the device to email you at any interval, (30 min) is good but I think it email's you ONLY at the point of failure. The default is to leave you alone and alert you on a daily basis if everything is working fine.

So if you don't get an email that's GOOD!

Hi marlehole:

Thanks for the post.

What I did was I put in an IP address of an AP that did not exist. So the DSA 3100 tries to ping it and it gets an alarm since there is no AP to let the ping work.

Even though I have the DSA 3100 to alarm me hourly, it only sends the alarm at midnight.

I think the DSA 3100 still has some bugs in its firmware. In this case the Monitor alarm isn't emailing me hourly.
