Hi all,

I have two PCs at home. One desktop and one laptop. The desktop has a Zyxel 623 modem and a dsl connection. The laptop has built in wifi. Recenlty I got a Roamabout WAP so that I can share the connection with the laptop.

I connected the modem with the WAP through ethernet where it says WAN. I can access the WAP through wireless with the laptop in order to configure it but I don't have any Internet access which means (I suppose :)) that the problem is between the modem and the WAP.

Can someone give an idea of what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

It could be something as simple as a software firewall -- make sure that one isn't running on your laptop next time you try to go online. That trips me up all the time. (if that doesn't work, time to check the DHCP or static IP settings on the laptop as well). Hopefully it's in the OS/software, not the hw.

What ISP do you have? did you have to install any special "connection" software on any of the computers to get it running? Is the modem setup in bridge mode? Or were you able to setup the PPPOE user/pass in the config setup of the modem? Does the modem have more than one LAN port?

Basicly I ask this becuase of a couple things, if the modem is setup in bridge mode and you have software installed on one of your computers to get connected, try setting up the roamabout in PPPOE mode and setup the user/pass in that, then uninstall any of the ISP softare from any and all machines. What this will do is have the WAP send the connection info through the dsl modem to your isp.

Then set up everything else to connect to the WAP.

First of all I am sorry for the (very) late reply. We had a couple of days off from work and I went for a small trip. Thanks a lot for your help but as it seemed the main problem was myself :o . I was connecting the modem to the wrong port of the AP.

Anyway, I have it all sorted out now. The only thing that is left is that I have to extend the range of the network because it doesn't reach the whole house.

Once again thanks for your help.
