Hi all,

I have a Zyxel 623 modem router and a friend of mine gave me an Enterasys RoamAbout 3000 wireless access point. Is it possible to connect them via ethernet and have wireless access in the house?

Thanks in advance.

Theoretically those two units should work together well.

Make sure you set up DHCP properly. It is best to let the router do it and turn it off on the AP.

You should be fine.

I did it like this and it dodn't work. I just couldn't access the AP.

The thing is that after some researching on the net, I found out that the AP The access point has one 10BASE]T/100BASE]TX RJ]45 port that can be attached directly to 10BASE]T/100BASE]TX LAN segments. These segments must conform to the IEEE 802.3 or 802.3u specifications. and the modem says that it conforms to the IEEE 802.1 specification. Is there a possibility that they are not compatible?

Cheers
