I just enabled 128bit WEP security on my notebook. Do I have to change any settings when I travel to connect to a free wireless network?? Thanks

Yes, turn off WEP...
Most hotspots have a username/password login to control access and very few use WEP.
If you want to secure all wireless transmissions at a hotspot or anywhere you use your wireless laptop, consider hotspotvpn.com
