I have read on some forums that WISPs are usually capable of changing the bandwidth alloted to various customers...according to what they pay.
And that WISPs also have all sorts of monitoring capability.
But...
Can't a basic WISP be put in place without the ability to change the bandwidth to various customers and without extensive monitoring and SNMP capability? I'm thinking of giving all customers 1 Megbit, and leave it at that. Maybe have only 15 or 20 customers max on each AP, since each will have 1 Megbit.
I have proved out a pretty good stable WiFi system in hotel situations. I'm thinking of using most of those components in a WISP operation. I think it will be quite stable in a WISP operation too.
Does that sound reasonable?
Are there some WISPs that have basic WISP systems, whereby they have CPE devices that do not have the capability to be remotely controlled...and thus the bandwidth is just set and forgot? I figure if they use some WiFi APs, this is probably the case.
Also do some WISPs not have extensive monitoring software?
All the above just to keep costs down.
I figure a good stable system, should just run and run, like in the hotel situations I have installed.
Or is there something I am overlooking?
Thanks much
