Is it possible to connect multiple wireless access points to a single high gain outdoor aerial if I made a custom splitter cable.
Senario:
We have a two story building approx 80m X 20m and are currently using a batch of 32 wireless laptops on the ground floor which are moved from room to room as needed. At the moment we have four DLink DWL2100AP access points which are moved to each room with the laptops (this is tedious as well as having a higher risk of damaging the APs). The laptops are setup so only 8 are connected to each AP at a time. In the near future we are purchasing another batch of 32 laptops for the second floor.
Theory:
Could I use a high gain outdoor antenna and place it right in the corner of the building and connect it with a splitter cable so all 4 APs are connected to the same antenna. Do you think this will be strong enough to cover the whole building. When we get the new batch of 32 laptops, could I add a few more APs to this antenna to help spread the load, or will I need to setup a second aerial for the second floor.
