Got a problem here.

i'm helping this girl hook up to my wireless network at home and keeps getting the following error message.

Wyndows System error
There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network

Thing is she's been here before and used my connection withoug any problems. I dont think it's the network cause my neighbor's network is always open and I tried to have her connect to that one too and same thing happens + my laptop is able to connect to both without any conflicts . Any suggestions?

Hello Welcome,

What I think is happening, you've got a DHCP conflict error. You need to shutdown all computers, reboot router or IP Address server.

Power back up router or DHCP Server, then one pc at a time; they should get a individual IP Address.

Good Luck, with that!

Or you could do the manly thing and set/manage all IP addreses yourself. ;-)

DHCP is a convieninece that can be a pain in the butt at times.

Good Luck

Hi Native,

Can you please explain this term "to my wireless network at home" a bit more in detail.

I presume that your AP/wifirouter is getting an internet / network connection through a cat5 cable from a service provider.

If the aforesaid presumption is true, one possibility is that the WLAN Service Provider is restricting one IP address per Ap/per home connection and if your neighbour's Wlan Service Provider is also the same then the error message is appropriate & you ought to contact your WSP to grant you additional IP addresses.

If it's anything else, feel free to broadcast the same.
