I'm not sure I can help, but my two-penneth is that the 520 & XP work fine.

I'm networking DLink's A520s (with router DI-604, WAP DWL-5000AP). I've had massive problems. But the first and easiest was my son's installation and working of the A520 on his XP machine. That gave us our first glimmer of hope that the whole thing was even possible. After this, we managed to get all the other PCs up and running (well .... the W98 one is still giving problems), tho' the fine tuning continues to fill in all-too-much time.

DLink were (as so many others report) useless when it came to support.

How did it crash? Blue screen or lockup? Am I to understand that after installing the wireless card your system crashed, you had to reboot and the OS no longer booted or functioned properly?

I have installed a 520+ on an XP machine and everything works fine. No problems seemed to arise.

After loading in the drivers, and installing the card, I rebooted the PC. It found the new hardware and drivers ok but the taskbar was white not the normal blue so I restarted the PC but it wouldn't continue booting up at the Win XP splash screen.
It failed at the stage I reckon it was loading up the driver.
Only when I removed the card would the PC boot up.
Someone mentioned thar the 520+ card only works with PCI's version 2.2. How do I check what version I have?

SiSoft Sandra 2002 (http://www.3bsoftware.com/sandra) will tell you.

Fresh Diagnose 5 may (http://www.freshdevices.com) but doesn't work on my machine.

I've got PCI version 2.1 which runs DLink DWL-A520 fine - but under W2k.

With the drivers 2.2b are the one you need. ive been using this card for some time now and it works fine. I would recomend this product to any one that has a 2.4 wireless network.
