I have just purchased a used Viewpad 1000, upgraded to WIN XP, which contains a Gemtek built-in miniPCI "802.1X" card. I upgraded my router to a D-Link 614+ wireless to enjoy the pleasures of a home wireless connection, but I am stuck. The router is setup and running well in wired mode, accessing the Internet via cable modem. The Viewpad also works well in wired mode, accessing both LAN and WAN.
However I am having quite a bit of trouble (hours and hours) getting the wireless mode to operate. The oriuginal driver for the wireless NIC would not see any wireless network. Additional drivers see the network and DHCP and get an address, but do not receive back any packets, so all pings and other network communications fail.
Of course D-Link says its the Viewpad and Viewsonic says its the D-Link.
Using the most polished driver, the connection goes on and off, so I get messages that the Network is "unplugged", and then, reconnected, constantly.
Did I leave out any info.? Does someone have the savvy to recognize the breakdown here? Thanks in advance for suggestions. KW
