I assume most WISPs give static IP addresses? Maybe not...I'm not sure. Or maybe they charge more to give a static IP address to their customers?

But assuming the WISP is going to give static IP addresses to each of their customers...how is that done? I don't have a clue.

I'm just guessing...

Does the WISP buy blocks of IP addresses from the telco that the WISP buys its T1 line from?

Lets assume the WISP does buy blocks of IP addresses to hand out to their customers. Maybe the WISP customers pay more for the static IP addresses.

Specifically how is one static IP address delivered to one customers CPE and not delivered to other peoples CPEs? How do all those many static IP addresses come in the T1 line, through the router and go to the AP on the hill, and then get transmitted on to each specific customer's CPE...and not to any other customers CPEs? In other words, each CPE has its own static IP addressed just to it.

So then, ideally, if a customer had his little computer network turned on at home, but is in a hotel somewhere using WiFi...then that customer should be able to remote into his home computer network from the hotel (or whereever), just knowing that static IP address given specifically to his CPE by the WISP?

I know with my hotel WiFi, I just put in the static IP address and am able to go directly into the Internet gateway at that specific hotel, to configure it.

Ideally my WISP customer should be able to remote into his home network, through my WISP equipment.

Do you see any problems in a customer remoting through my WISP equipmnet into their home network? It should work as easy as me being able to easily remote into WiFi hotel equipment that I installed.

Thanks.
