Having trouble with the alignment of a 21db dish on a Cisco 1310 bridge about 8.4 miles. I have used a GPS and a compass but still no connection, any other Methods being used for alignments of these antennas.
Thank you,
Dmiles

Hi-

This is a 'loaded' question-

There could be several reasons why you cannot link the two antennas-

1. Are the devices configured to see each other?
2. Do you have clear line of site? (if not, chances are slim to none you will ever get a link)
3. Are there any electronic interferences preventing the signal from reaching the other device?

I would first confirm you actually have line of site and there are no fresnel zone encroachments. You cannot really do much more until this is determined.

... would be glad to help more if you pm me to discuss..:p

Did you enable the external antenna setting? Clear line of site?

also are you using cableing? LMR-400? or any sort of cabling? how long is that cableing? Any amplification going on?

Also a good Binocular Telescope on a tripod will help, what I've done in the past is attach the Binocular Telescope to the antenna at 90 degrees and make sure it doesnt move, then move the antenna untill I can see the other one in the Binocular Telescope.
