hi
my computer uses a win98se and an external wifi card dlink g and it works fine most of the times on an wifi environment that we run.

XP users who have internal cards are having problems connecting to the access points. sometimes they don't even pick up the signal.

There are a lot of factors that can be causing this. Obviously, both Internal and external cards have different types of antennas. My first suggestion would be to isolate your problem to either the card, the antenna, or the operating system.

First - compare the signal strength on the Windows 98 machine to one of the XP machines in the same spot. If there is a large disparity, it's possible that the antenna is the issue

Secondly, disable the on-board card, and put the d-link card into the PC. This will enable you to see if the internal card has issues, or if the issues are specific to the Operating System.

Hope this gets you in the right direction
