Direction Finding and WiFi

Dear All,

As part of a university project I am interested in any direction finding equipment that exists for WiFi networks.

In detail what I want to do is have a PDA (or whatever) and get bearings to 3 different wi-fi stations (of which I know the exact coordinates), so that I can triangulate the position of the PDA.

Is this possible? Does it already happen? Does anyone know what type of kit I should be looking at?

you can check out http://www.pangonetworks.com/ I think they deployed a while back some trials in the wireless zone in Athens (WAG). I haven't used them, just seen a presentation a while back.
