Anyone know where the IE dropdown box address file is located?

Someone told me they thought it might be in the history file. I went to the History icon from within IE and deleted all the history. But my IE dropdown box addresses were still there. So it must not be from within the history file.

Also I put the Google bar into my IE since I use Google so much. Same question for the Google word search drop down box. I can't find that file either.

I would like to find them, so I can make regular back ups of them, in case my IE loses all the addresses.

Last week I lost all my IE drop down addresses and all my Google search words.

I now make copies of my .pst files cause last week all my .pst files dissapprared. I found them in the recycle bin. Probably a Trojan horse got on my computer.

Since then I cleaned it all up with SpySweeper, Adaware, SpyBot. I also use Zone Alarm now.

Thanks,

The history file contains every website you have visited.

Start using 'Favorites' to save websites you frequent

Hi spiderbite:

Thanks for the reply.

I do save my Favorites. I have found the Favorites file and keep duplicate copies of that.

The reason I do, is last week I has a problem whereby all my sent .pst files vanished from Outlook. I found them in the Recycle bin. So I restored them.

A day later I lost all my .pst files...Incomming and sent. They were in the Recycle bin again, but under another .pst file name. So something was really hitting my computer.

I even had about 20 files moved from the root directory of my C drive to my Recycle bin. I had to put them back.

So I decided to make copies of my Favorites and .pst files, just in case my main files get taken away again.

I know where my History file is...so I can copy that also.

But from time to time, I would like to copy the file that contains the IE address bar drop down box. And the drop down box for the Google search work drop box. I have the Google bar also on my IE. I can't find these two.

I finally got my computer running ok now that I ran: SpyBot, SpySweeper, Ad Aware, CW Shreader, and Norton Antivirus to get rid of all that trash that was getting me. I tried Hijack This, but didn't delete many files, since it is difficult to know what to choose for deletion.

Now I'm making backups of some of the impt files.

Hope all your WiFi is going ok.

try browsing to a site like espn.com and then do a search for that in the registry
