Alright i have a Dlink wireless DI-624 Wireless router, and i also have a Linksys Wireless Access point. I was wondering if it is at all possible to set either the linksys or the dlink to broadcast wireless signal and the other one of the two , to be used as a repeater to extend my range. Please get back to me kinda needed in a hurry thanks.. Lenny (bigman016@gmail.com)

Repeating anything will decrease your throughput by half.

Use them both as AP's and accomplish the same goal and keep the aggragate throughput.

Make sure your card plays nice with both of them.

This will require two cable runs back to the router/switch whatever.....

Also whats the advantage in the High Gain antennas you can buy to replace the stock ones in the linksys ap's?? (they are like 4-5 inches longer)

"whats the advantage in the High Gain antennas you can buy to replace the stock ones in the linksys ap's?? "

Just more range, less sensitivity to interference with neighboring WLANs, less interference from your WLAN to your neighbors. Other than that, nothing.

Most gain antennas get their gain by focusing transmitted energy into, and detecting received energy from, a narrower region of the sky.

If the gain antenna is pointed at your neighbors system, that makes things worse.
