I have been fighting with this Wireless LAN setup for quite some time. I have been trough LinkSYS and NetGears customer support, but have not had any luck getting a solution.
I have two systems connected to my home LAN via WLan and three others running through the supplied switch ports in my Router. The only systems that I have problems with are those connected via wireless access.
The worst of the two will not allow my son to connect any of the online gaming zones. Pinging to the router from his machine will normally show a 50% packet loss.
My daughters machine pings with 25% packet loss, but there are many times that there is no loss. She can connect to anything online with no problems, but niether machine can sustain gaming within the LAN (Half-Life, Chess, MS Combat Flight SIM, ect...)
I have checked the IP settings and even tried enabling DHCP breifly to insure that was not the cause of my connection problems. To reduece the load I breifly disabled WEP Encryption as a test. Powered down all cell phones and wireless phones to see if they were causing the interference. The MAX distance between all nodes is 58 feet.
Thanks for your time.
Wireless Router: NetGear MR314
LAN Card: LinkSYS WMP11
Systems: 300mz, 128MB, WIN 98 Second Edition
one is a Micron XKU (daughters) and the other is a clone (sons)
