How EAP in WPA works ~ confused

pls some one tell me how can EAP steps frame ( for the request ~ authentication ) from client - AP -RADIUS can be secured.?

is it protected with some encryption?
i mean if someone has been verified and get the key from the server it's considered secured.

but what about security while verifying the client ? what security does it have?
