I see Verizon is getting into the VoIP act too with their VoiceWing.
I wonder if they are any better then the other VoIP providers?
I have an idea that Verizon will cost more in the long run.

Hey Bob,
Probably not. Actually many if not all major telco carriers use VoIP for call transport between their switches. AT&T stopped offering regular PSTN phone service in most areas and now has call vantage (VOIP service) as their primary. It going to be the way to make phone calls in the not so distant future I would assume. But with VoIP over WLAN its more important to have QoS builtin the AP's (Cisco, YDI) and the quality of bandwidth you buy (i.e. T1 or T3 rather than DSL) than the actual carrier.
You got it Verison is never the cheapest.

I have a feeling this VoIP stuff will be gettin bigger and bigger.
There are naturally many more prospects for VoIP then there are for WiFi.
Am I right in thinking that we need A& & T and Verizon, Vonage, etc., because they do the switching to get the in and outbound calls from the land lines to the internet?
Seems like that would be too big a job for anything but large companies to do... that have the money to pay for all the inbound and outbound trunks to the landline system.
I have a feeling we will be seeing more posts to this part of the forum as VoIP takes off.
