I have just recently started useing a wireless network and while not new to computers am a definate beginer to wireless. I purchased the Belkin F5D7321-4 802.11g router and the Belkin F5D7001 card to go with it. I managed to set it all up and while it works it seems like the connection is intermitant. I've been surfing around trying various recomendations to improve the stability and while I now have a stronger signal I still have long pauses in my connection. (Even when comunicating with the router when chaging settings) So I'm curious if you guys know of any thing that I might be able to try in order to remove or at least reduce the delay to an unnoticable amount.
If I can iron thigns out my hope is that I will be able to game over the new wireless network.
Thanks,
Khelor

Nothing i do seems to really improve the wirless network .. i don't get it .. it gets a signal sees the net .. and at times can surf and DL like its supposed to .. then immeidatly flip over to not being able to send or can send but not recieve .. or completly drop connection to the wireless net. Speed tests from DSLreports.com are all over the board 1199/628, 211/16, 758/1012, 977/411 dl/ul .. i have no idea what to do to even try and stabalize this ... i've tried lowering the network speed, no differance, tried changing to 802.11b no difference .. tried every channel available ... are there any internal settings that can be changed to govern the responce time and speed of transmitions over the network?
I'm at my wits end and abotu to take this crap back and drill some holes (which the land lord said are a no no)

Have you tried upgrading the firmware of both Belkin products?
Can the Belkin scan for other wireless networks (to make sure you're not on the same channel as someone else)?
Have you called Belkin? It could be defective.

Once I got over 500ms pings. I was directed my usb wlan (802.11b) antenna wrong way. After this I under 40ms ping. Now I am using pci-bus wlan (802.11g) cards but I havent tried to ping this connection.
Receiver algorithms make delays to connection in wireless network. Symbol detection, Interleaving, puncturing, ... Make connection quality as good as you can and adjust sending/receiving buffer to smaller if you can. If you have money and time you can also test cards of other manufaturer. 802.11e will be better for delays.
You can use also long preamble. It is better than short. Transmitter first send preamble and if receiver doesnt send acknowledge transmitter send another preamble (with higher power?). This can also be reason for delay.
