Hello to all,
I would like to implement VPN to wireless Access Point. In other words I would like create a VPN connection to my wireless access point. I am not trying to VPN to other computers. I understand this is possible, but I am not sure if this is possible with Netgear WGT624. Does anyone have tutorials on how to do this and or can point me in the right direction? I use XP pro.
Thank you,
Daniel

I think you mean when people use VPN for security? If thats the case then its not to the AP its to the network. If thats what you mean then I could describe it for you.

First of all thanks fo the reply...
But there are Access Points that allow to create a VPN to from computer to Access Point. Linksys is one of them. It slows your connection down but really makes your connect to the access point extremely secure.

Netgear and Sonicwall used to make them as well.
802.1x probably voided the need for these.

You'll need MS Server 2000 (patch required) or 2003 and a access point that supports 802.1x / WPA. Some APs only support 802.1x / WEP which is basically server based username and password authentication with a pre-defined WEP key.
Configuration is not too difficult although you'll need to determine how you want to handle certificates (server based is best).
Go to microsoft.com and search on 802.1x. Lots of good articles including how to configure your server.
Also, if you want to use 802.1x with PDAs, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition supports WPA, the first edition only support WEP (see first paragraph). Last I checked Dell doesn't offer an upgrade to SE for the AXIM. You can however, upgrade the IPAQ.
Best to test in-house with the APs you want to use.
Good luck!
