I can't get my WI-FI network to work properly!

Hello everyone, hopefully some one will be able to help me out. I am using a SITECOM WL-108 - Wireless network ADSL router 54M and US Robotics 22 Mbps PCI wireless adapter installed in my desktop. The way my WI-FI network is supposed to be working, is the following: the router connects to the internet and the PCI adapter picks up the signal. However, the network is very unstable. I have tried several solutions: moving the router closer to the desktop, upgrading the router and PCI adapter's firmware and drivers, making sure all the WEP options are configured properly and setting to Infrastructure mode.
So far I have not been sucessfull, the router will comunicate with the PCI adapter for a short while before the network goes down again or worse it wont comunicate with the PCI adapter AT ALL! I have no clues what is going on....

Try it once with WEP turned off.
