im having a problem with the Dlink DWL 122 model of wireless
card.

I have installed all the drivers and all of the software and followed all of the instructions.

When i use the utilty given to users by the people at Dlink i can find the sgnal of my wireless router and i can configure it but i cannot connect to it.

it shows me the status of the connection, its siganl strength and such but i cant connect to it

In the system tray the utuility taht shows whether or not the USB device is connected, it shows says taht its not connected but it is already in a USB port. THe normal windows icon shows says that :Wireless connection is unavailible

First of all make sure your wireless adapter is not part of a network bridge (right click my network places, properties). If there is a bridge disable it and then remove it.

Second make sure there is no encryption enabled on your router/access point also make sure you are using the correct type of authentication.

Third try changing wireless channel and playing with the other settings, in particular try lowering the Tx rate and changing the preamble type if possible.

U got everythin in one go ewan.

Just one tip to add on:
1) i think u r windows xp wireless zero configuration is enabled.
And you are trying to configure using the software provided with the client card.
It would not take effect untill u disable wireless zero configuration in windows xp. By which I mean:

Go to control panel/network & dialup connections/go to wireless lan properties/ click on the second tab. uncheck the first box in that window.

I guess this shud be u r first step. if it's already unchecked; do what ewan says.

Rocks,
