Ok at the university here we have in dorm T-1 lines and I am signed up. What would I need in order to take a laptop around campus and get my t-1 connection?? Would I need to setup a router and a wireless in my PC and than in my Laptop? The question is how would I use my dorm connection to take around with me on my laptop? What would I need and what would I need to do to set this up?>?
Any suggestions??

The problem is range. You could install an Access Point in your dorm but this will only get you a max of 300meters radius (in an open area) in a complex like yours with 50meter maybe a real figure.

Now ask yourself the question; What kind of range would you need to cover the campus?

Well our campus isn't really that huge..From my dorm to the end of campus its probably like 400-500 feet or so..

With walls and other obstacles you'll be lucky to get a range of 100 feet.

Walls, trees, really anything that would reflect the signal. Not to mention, even to give it a shot, your antenna would likely need to be mounted externally, something your campus beautification police would nix in a hurry. I have been a part of alot of Wi-Fi installations at Colleges across the southeast. What are the chances of yours having a project along these lines? That would solve your campus connectivity problem, but likely inhibit local (dorm) Access Point hardware.
