Hi Folks...
I've been trying to figure this out over the past couple of days...with little to no luck. I currently have a home network set up using a D-Link DI-624 Rev. C as my wireless router. I have 3 wired computers on the network, 2 wireless lap tops, a PS2 & an XBox. All devices are sharing a cable connection. All PCs (including the lap tops) work perfectly fine on the network...sharing both files & our internet connection. As far as the PS2 & Xbox are concerned, however, performance is sporadic at best. Recently...I have had multiple problems with both consoles when attempting to play online. I am currently using 2 Linksys WGA54G Wireless Gaming Adapters to connect the consoles to my wireless network. I originally had the Microsoft MN-740 for the Xbox...but it consistently returned a LOW signal when connecting to my network...so I returned it in hopes that the WGA54G would perform better. In any case...now I cannot connect to Xbox Live at all.
I am currently looking for a method to designate permanent IP addresses for both the PS2 & the Xbox on my home network...and then open all ports to both consoles. Has anyone successfully done this? Or does anyone have a set up like mine that has worked successfully? And if so...what pointers can you give me? It has been very frustrating over the past week or so dealing with these connection issues. As of now...the only resolution that I have found was to connect the console directly to my cable modem...and that is getting to be a real pain as my router is located in my computer room downstairs & my consoles are located upstairs in our gameroom. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
