hi. I'm new here, but I was hoping to find a little bit of help.

I'm the IT guy for our office and we have 5 computers. 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs.

They are all connected via netgear wireless cards and are working fine even with WEP.

There have been several teething issues regarding speed.

To combat this, I thought that a crossover cable between the two computers downstairs would be enough. This was so that they would ONLY talk to each other using the cable, but talk to the other computers upstairs the wireless router (which has the net connected to) via the wireless method.

This has proven to be difficult for me as I have never dealt with wireless communication and it's been rather painfull.

Has anyone got any ideas how this can be achieved? Is it a windows thing to be difficult? Do I need third party software? is it as simple as bridging connections on one, or is there more to it?

Please help. I spent $45 of the bosses money saying it would work... :)

I'm using winxp pro on all of the systems.

Thanks.
