Over the past couple months I’ve put up two solar powered nodes in a community wi-fi network built by the local wireless users group.

My own interest in the project other than being able to access the net around the neighborhood and playing around with solar power is thinking that community built networks and recycled computers could be one low cost solution to the problem of the so called digital divide.

Any comments or suggestions about community run networks or what ya thing about the digital divide would be appreciated....

I commend you for your work and ingenuity and your commitment to a good social cause. I believe at some point that rural wireless networks will have some form of Government subsidy or universal tax such as we now have for our phone system.
