Hello,
I am working with a non profit organization in Tanzania-East Africa and we are trying to create internet access here for the villagers in the local community.
The problem is,there is no any kind of back haul[DSL,Cable, etc.]We can get pretty much any access point in the market-$500 and down.
Is there any way to craate internet access by just using access points? or is there any cheap altenative of wireless backhaul that we can use?
There is power[electricity]
We are only looking at 6 computer in a room.
Thank you

Depending on how far you are from backhaul, you might be able to do a point to point shot. For instance, if there is a town within 30KM and you have clear line of sight, you can set up one AP/bridge on either side with high gain directional antennas. The other option is to look for a satellite Internet provider that covers that area of the earth. Your upload might **** (or you may even need to use dial up for upload), but you should be able to get decent downloads. Good luck with it.

Sounds like Louisiana also....Some areas dont have Broadband Access even in town...I use a Motorola Starpoint system to beam the signal from town to a tower site in a rual area (50 miles away) works nice..
