frame exchange in the association process

Could anyone tell me where I could find the sequence of exchanged messages between the client and the AP in an soociation process? I am using a sniffer (Airopeek v2) but I don't know if the captured frames are correct or not because I don't find any theoretical reference in this respect.

I would much appreciate any help because it is very important for me to get this information.

Not exactly what you want, but it explains several packet assemplies and from that you maybe able to decipher the logs.

Cisco has a very good book called 802.11 wireless lan fundamentals that has decodes and explanations of the association process.
