Hi,
Here's what I understand of the Ad-hoc mode of operation for a Station. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The station in Ad-hoc mode first scans channel and tries to find out if there is any IBSS present. If yes, then it will use that SSID and start communication. If there is no IBSS detected during the scan then this station will create new IBSS using a SSID.
My understanding is that there is no Authentication/Association message exchange in IBSS mode since there is no AP present in IBSS. In such a case how security (eg WEP) works?
Regards,
