I live in a rural area and set up a wireless link to an isp 20 miles away. At that time the signal seemed consistent.Well now the Isp set up another tower and had me aim toward it (at 1/2 the distance). Now the signal is really shaky and the ISP has really been no help in improving the transmissions(they say they can ping the router just fine) but this is no indication of link quality.
I'm using a Linux box as my router and am including a printout
of the iwconfig feedback:
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point: 00:02:2D:0D:F7:51
Bit Rate:1Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:2/3
Retry limit:4 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:4/92 Signal level:-89 dBm Noise level:-93 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0

Now does this not imply that my link is shaky at best,(and this, after repeated attempts, is one of my better readings(HAH!)
And this is from a router less than half the distance it was before!

Are there any tools or something to help me improve this situation?
