I've used WEP on and off, and discovered that in addition to it not providing adequate security, it also diminished my WLAN performance. Given that I live in a private house, and reach the limits of my Range at the edges of my property, I have no real concerns about it.
Personally, I would use it again and/or see people using it for two reasons:
1) For people who are seriously paranoid, it makes for a good 'security blanket'
2) In a densely populated area (say an Apartment building), it would give me an additional measure to prevent people from stumbling onto my network. Granted my SSID is different from someone elses, but most OS will just pick up the nearest AP. At least with WEP, no one can get on my network by accident.
