Desining WLAN Network Interface Card based on 802.11 technology

I am a final year student studying in Dapartment Of Computer Science, University Of Karachi. I want to design the wirless lan card as my final year project. Please guide me what are the steps i would take to complete this task.

This is a pretty ambitious effort for a senior project. Here are some things to consider when designing an 802.11 radio card:

- Determine which technology to use (i.e., 802.11a, b, g)
- Decide whether to use chipsets or reference design
- Choose a chipset/reference design supplier (e.g., Intersil, Atheros, etc.)
- Define methods to minimize power consumption
- Decide on form factors (e.g., ISA, PC Card, etc.)
- Define antennas that you'll want to certify with your product
- Determine processor type and memory needs to run the MAC
