Hi all,

I have a strange problem.....
Computers: 2 laptops (windows xp), 1 desktop (windows 2003 server)
Router:Netgear mr814
Adapters: ma101 (all of them)

All three computers were working as of 2 days ago. Yesterday the desktop stopped working. I can clearly get a signal with the desktop, but the computer is not getting an ip address from the router (set to dhcp). The other two laptops are working just fine. When I log into the router I can see that the laptops are connected.

Things I've tried:
-power cycling the router
-using a different wireless adapter for the desktop
-reinstalling the drivers and utility configuration program
for the adapter

Has anyone encountered this?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. So the problem is with the Win2K3 server and using an USB adaptor on it. Having tried all the options and using another adaptor that works elsewhere would point to a problem on the server. Have you changed anything on the server around the same time? Have you looked at the event viewer to see if there was any indication of a problem? Have you checked the TCP/IP settings for the wireless connection or seen if the connection is disabled for some reason? Have you tried using a static IP address on the server? Perchance did you install a firewall on the server? Have you checked the Device Manager to see if there is anything wrong with the USP components or the adaptor?

Please check these few things out and see if there are any setting that are not correct.

Thanks for the suggestions. I looked in the event viewer and found an error with a service called IPSec. I have no idea how/when I enabled it. But anyways, when I stopped the service it started working.

Thanks again.
