Does anyone have experience using both products? I am currently using Airopeek NX. So I was wondering if anyone elese has tested these products side by side.

I also prefer it over AirMagnet. I have limited experience with Airmagnet, but decied to go with AiroPeek and have been satisfied. I am personally looking at Yellow Jacket though and am very interested in that. Make sure you check out the threads, as there are several on this topic. For example.

I've used, and continue to use all three products. Simply put YellowJacket has the best RF abilities. Great spectrum analyzer.

AiroPeek has the best packet analyzer of the bunch and is great for packet decodes and traces.

AirMagnet is the jack of all trades. It does everything really well, but the only thing it's the best at is alerting the user to WLAN issues. It's the most intuitive to use and has the best interface. It's my favorite for day to day use.

So I guess it depends on what you value most. Do you want a spectrum analyzer (YellowJacket), a packet sniffer (AiroPeek) or an overall network analyzer (AirMagent).

We like AirMagnet the best because there are other low cost or free options for a spectrum analyzer and packet sniffer that can be used in conjunction.

We use AirMagnet to scan the WLAN and detect problems, Ethereal to dig down deeper into the packets and a Rangelan2 card to do the spectrum analysis. AirMagnet also can save a trace to Ethereal format for in depth analysis.

If AirMagnet for example detects a "Crackable WEP IV key used" we can then check for firmware updates or run another tool like Airsnort to try and recover the WEP key. If AirMagnet detects "channel with high noise level" we can then run the spectrum analyzer to determine where the overlap of background noise is.

AirMagnet laptop Trio will also detect 802.11A, B and G at the same time and provide expert advice on security and performance issues.
