I purchased this unit from TigerDirect.com. It worked fine out of the box. However, I decided to upgrade the firmware ( huge mistake ) to the latest version found on the D-Link web site to get the 128 WEP encription and web configuration interface.

After the upgrade, the unit started dropping the connection to the remote clients when they try to send large files to the access point. The down link ( like surfing the web ) seems to work ok, but when the computer tries to send any large amount of data to the access point the connection is dropped. It will re-connect after a few seconds, but the transmission is more or less useless at this point.

D-Link technical support imediatly went into denyal mode and tried to blame the problem on radio interferance. I tried unsucessfully to point out that the problem occured only after the firmware update. They did not seem to want to help me. After searching many other sites I found out that this it a common problem after the firmware update. Thankfully, I am only ot the $60.00 I paied at TigerDirect.

I finally gave up and purchased a US Robotics USR2249 access point. It works flawlessly in the same location. Of course it is nearly twice the price.

I recomend that you DO NOT buy this access point ( or any other product from D-LINK) due to the poor customer service. However, to be fair, the unit does work as long as you DO NOT try to upgrade the firmware...

Don't say you were not warned....
