This is a code red call for help- any and all comments will be welcome.

I am trying to upgrade the firmware of an old Cisco 350 from 11.01 to 12.01..In the process everything worked except the fact that it still will not support 128bit WEP, only 40bit.

I have restored it to default and tried -didnt work

I have done the above and tried 11.56 first and then 12.01-didnt work

I have called Cisco - they dont know why it doesnt work.

I am trying to avoid buying new AP's. I shouldnt have to

I tried going straight to IOS but something else barfed and I still cant get 128 bit WEP

Has this happened to anyone else? How did you resolve it?

Thanks for any input

The AP's in question appaerntly came in two flavors.
One was the AIR-351 and the 352.

The 351 is 40bit only and the 352 allowed for 128 bit WEP.

Further investigation reveals that since WEP is controlled by hardware....not a firmware upgrade! The 351's that are interspersed with the 352's are now useless to me except a possiblw wholesale liquidation on E-Bay. I guess that would be why I have less overhead so I shouldn't complain much.

The 352 finally took the 128 bit by consoling in as opposed to browsing, but as soon as it was restarted it hoarked yet again

cycling and restarting itself in an endless death spiral.

I am going to open a TAC case, but I think we are going to have to buy 1200's and call it a day.
