Welcome to the forum. I waited awhile hoping for a more knowledgeable person to help, but I will try. As far as I know the IEEE group is just getting in place and supposed to start formal work in March, so that may give you a time line as to when actual compliant equipment might be available. As I understand it, the main focus will be to create an environment to facilitate seamless roaming and replace mobile IP. I even read some broad based remarks where they would like to see seamless roaming between 802.11 and 3G. I personally do not know of any equipment out there that is ahead of the game and already dealing with that subject. But, I not by any means an expert. I thought that these pages might be of interest.

I just want to say thank you, I'll re-read yor post, because i'm not sure I've all understand!
Edit : What is 3G ?? Another group that does Standard like the IEEE ?
3G is the wireless phone standard that is prevelant in Europe now. I think it will be here in the US as well. That is the ultimate goal of everyone. To be able to switch from a 802.11 to a 3G network . We will have to wait awhile before that happens if ever.
