Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : What is Proxim Rangelan2 standard?
Before I really knew what I was doing, tried to get my RangeLan2 to be part of a 802.11B network. It didn't work so I looked for what standard it was running on. I couldn't find it.
What Standard or specifications is the Proxim RangeLan2 on?
How fast can it go?
Any Advantage/Disadvantage with it?
Thanks
Scott

802.11 FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum)
How fast can it go? 1-2Mbps, depending on the vintage.
Any Advantage/Disadvantage with it? No one is making consumer-priced FHSS gear any more. Also, it's incompatible with the dominant 802.11b standard, DSSS. Not only doesn't it interoperate, it interferes severely with proper operation of 802.11b compliant gear.
