hey guys, i have a problem.
i have this neighbor, he has a wireless access point, he is kind of far, but he is our friend, so he let us connect to his internet, anyway, i have a cisco aironet 350 miniPCI card, and my brother has an intel PRO 2100 miniPCIcard, the one that comes with the new centrino notebooks, by the way, we both have dell laptops, he has Inspiron 600m, and i have Inspiron 5100.
so the thing is, his wirelss card connects easily when he is inside the house, and because our neighbor is far away, he connects at like 2 mbps or even sometimes 1, u know because of the auto fallback. but my wireless card do not pickup the signal untill i stand by the window, and it doesnt even transfer data it just connects, and it is always connected at 11 mbps, which means its not auto falling back, so if it was i would of been connecting just like my brother, i tried every possible thing like preferences, the card's software, i tried to make it connect at 1mbps only, but it would not associate with access point at all, as i have to put it on Auto...etc....

anyone knows why my card isnt auto falling back?

Hi all
it seems like nobody knows how to solve my problem, and also, i have seen that there are people who are experts in wifi, like users like wi-fi expert and wi-fi fan and etc etc....

this cisco card is the best in the market as i heard, and it is compared to the proxim ones, as Cisco is the main competitor to Proxim.

anyway, i need to know why my card isnt auto falling back, if it isnt, then ill have to sell it on ebay, and getting a PCMCIA D-link DWL-G650, as it it is PCMCIA, then the range is totally better than the built in mini PCI ones, anyway

please guys help me out.

Levon5100, I'm sorry I dont have an answer but maybe you can try swapping cards and see what gives. I dont know if its a card issue or a settings issue.

Good luck with it.
