As of today, I have four computers...three PCs and a laptop, in a mixed wired-wireless LAN. I'm working with a Linksys WAP11 hooked into my trusty, old IBM switch. Two PCs are also wired into this switch. A PC in the other room is using a usb wireless NIC and the laptop of course has a wireless pc card inserted.

For the sake of ease in the initial set up, I've disabled WEP. I did change the default name of the SSID, of the AP and the default IP address. According to the instructions, the way to get into the AP to change the default password is through my browser. I dutifully type in the IP address of the AP and...nothing. Network path not found. I can access the other machines on the LAN...wireless and otherwise via IE and I can ping the AP from any computer in the LAN. The network otherwise works flawlessly, but I still can't get into the AP.

This is probably a well known problem with a well known solution...but "newbie-itis" has struck again and I'm without an answer. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As Gilda Radner used to say on Saturday Night Live: "Nevermind". I put a number of clues together and discovered that I had to set my browser to "Never dial up a connection" then type in the AP's IP address as:
"http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and then I could access it.
