I have a Linksys WAP 11 that I am trying to get working. Because of interference from my neighbor's Linksys WAP I had to change the default SSID and channel from default of 6 to 1.
No problem on the Linksys, but I can't find anywhere on the IBM Access Connection software where I can CHANGE the channel that the profile on the Thinkpad is using to channel 1. It shows me what channel it wants to use but I can't see where to change it.
any help would be appreciated.

It'll scan for the strongest signal and use that channel automatically.

Have u tried going to the device mangler, network adapters, properties of the card and in the advanced tab change the channel for the card itself?

Thank you to both of you for responding. I figured it was locking onto the strongest signal, but unfortunately, even when i place my thinkpad within inches of the linksys it still seems to lock onto my neighbors linksys on channel 6 instead of mine on channel 1 - weird. i think i will bring the wap to work and try it in a different location.
Regarding changing it in the network manager - i will give that a go, but was hoping that i could set everything up in a profile so switching from work to home would be easier.
thanks mucho to both of you for your help - i will try your suggestions and get back to you.

Another thing you might try is to change the SSID from whatever Linksys has as a default to something else. Change it to the same thing on your laptop and the router.

I did change the SSID as my neighbor had his as the default of "linksys".
I brought the WAP to my worksite today to play with it in a different environment and make sure it is working properly. Hopefully I will be able to know it is working and then try your suggestions at home and get things cooking.
thanks again for the help.
