IBM Gateway Links Wi-Fi, Cellular Networks
Has anyone read this article and if not here is the website:

Well my question was this is great and all, but what do they mean when they say, "main features include roaming across physical networks for uninterrupted connectivity...". I am just interested in the part of uninterrupted connectivity. Anyone have a clue as to what IBM is saying for uninterrupted connectivity?

reading between the lines of the IBM release, i would infer that uninterrupted connectivity simply means the ability to manually switch transport carrier solutions. as evident in the case of the toronto police, the officers can send their reports via WiFi while in range to the police stations' access point and via cellular when out of range, as well as select sat link when needed. this allows the user to avoid an interruption in connectivity through manual adustments in the gateway settings, but the release doesn't mention any info about the gateway being "smart" in a sense where it will detect the type of transport layer, perform the adustments accordingly and/or facilitate simultanious connections with differing transport layers.

just a thought.
