I want to build a wireless LAN on an exsiting wire Lan. For this, I have brought a 3Com® OfficeConnect® Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway in order to connect to the exsiting LAN and Internet through the LAN. However, I don't know how to set the parameters of the 3Com Gateway.

The struture of the exsiting LAN is that we use ADSL to connect to the Internet and there is a Zywall router as the internet gateway, under the Zywall gateway, the internal IP address range from 192.168.123.1 to 192.168.123.254.

I want the wireless LAN to use the same subnet with my exsiting LAN.

Please help and Thanks a lot.

Since you already have a gateway, all you need is an access point (giving you a wireless point of access to your wired LAN). Start here http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/Sections-article13-page1.php to learn about wireless networks and how to set one up.

Oh, Thanks. But I want to ask one more question. Can the AP be connected to any devices of the wired LAN like hub or switch? Or the AP must be connected to the router or gateway?

The access point is just another wired LAN device on your hub or switch.
