Hi,
I need some help .
Here is my setup.
I have COMCAST cable internet service and a RCA cable router.
This setup is connected to a Microsoft MN-500 wireless router.
I have a laptop (XP) and a desktop (windows 2000 server).
The desktop is directly connected to the MN500 thru a ethernet cable.
Laptop has a SMC Wireless cardbus adapter and this works fine.
encryption is set at 64bit.

Here is the problem with my desktop
Every 1-2 mins it can't connect to the internet meaning I try to access a webpage i get "The page cannot be displayed" message. I have to wait for another 1-2 mins before the internet starts working. This is so annoying.
I thought this is due to lack of memory so I put in another 128mb stick but did not make any diff.
I should state that this is an old P2/ 256mb/450mhz.

Earlier I used a USB Wireless adapter on the desktop and had the same problem. I thought this was due to the adapter so I returned it and plugged the desktop directly to the wireless router.
Any ideas on why this is happenning? is it something to do with the memory?
Thanks

Extreemly unlikely it is a memory problem, like 1 in a billion chance.

It more likely a Tcp-ip problem. Open the properties for the nic's on the XP machine and the 2000 machine and compare the Tcp-ip settings.

Thats the 1st place to start.

As you suggested I started playing with tcp/ip did not change values just fiddled and somehow the problem is fixed.
Thanks again.
